Current Winter Weather Update
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
- Keep important phone numbers, including health care providers, pharmacy, and veterinarian, on hand
- Ensure you have enough medication for several days
- Have a back-up power source on hand, such as a generator or battery pack, for medical devices along with back-up oxygen containers if needed
- Gather supplies in case you need to stay in your home for several days without power
- Protect pipes, and have food, water, prescriptions, and extra batteries in case travel is discouraged
- Drive under the speed limit, and check road conditions before leaving your home
- Drivers should keep a supply of water, snacks, power banks, tools, blankets, jumper cables, and emergency signals in their vehicles
- Lower water heater temperature to 120F
- Boil water before using it
- Limit your power usage
- Create a disaster kit
WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO:
- DO NOT try to get warm by turning on your vehicle and sitting in your garage
- DO NOT try to get warm by turning on your barbeque or outdoor grill inside your home
- DO NOT attempt to drive in dangerous conditions
