Washington, D.C. – Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX-01) released the following statement announcing staffing changes in his Washington, D.C., and First Congressional District offices:
“I’m pleased to announce the following staffing changes in my office, with members who have been with me since the beginning of my time in Congress moving up and new staff joining our team to bring additional expertise and experience both in the district and in D.C. during this next term. I am proud that my staff have deep ties to the district and East Texas, and a firm commitment to public service. As a team, we work hard to live up to the mission statement that hangs on the wall of our office – ‘To represent the First District of Texas with steadfast principles, effective statesmanship, humble service and bold action.’ I’m honored Cruz, Robbin, Emma, and Ray will play key parts in fulfilling this mission during the 119th Congress, and I’m confident their dedication, experience, and passion will bring value to the people of East Texas.”
Cruz Perez of Tyler, Texas, has been promoted to Legislative Director, following years of service in Congressman Moran’s office that began when he was first sworn into office on January 3rd, 2023. Cruz is a proud graduate of Tyler I.S.D., Tyler Junior College, and Baylor University, where he received his B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Religion. His time serving in Congress includes work in the office of fellow Texas conservative Republican, Congresswoman Mayra Flores (R-TX-34). He began working in Congressman Moran’s office as a Legislative Correspondent and worked his way up as a Legislative Assistant and Senior Legislative Assistant before this latest promotion.
Robbin Bass of Texarkana, Texas, has been promoted to District Director, after serving as Congressman Moran’s Deputy District Director since day one of his term. Prior to joining his office, Robbin was the Director for Business Retention and Expansion for the Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce, focusing on business and economic development. Robbin also served as District Director for Congressman John Ratcliffe (R-TX-04) from 2015 to 2020 and served as interim Chief of Staff during the transition phase when Congressman Ratcliffe was tapped to be Director of National Intelligence in President Donald Trump’s first Administration. She and her husband reside in Texarkana, Texas.
Emma Chance of Shreveport, Louisiana, joins Congressman Moran’s office as Legislative Assistant. Emma previously served as a Legislative Correspondent for U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID). Emma graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU), before joining U.S. Senator John Kennedy’s (R-LA) office. She is currently in law school at the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C.
Ray Wilson of Marshall, Texas, now serves in Congressman Moran’s office as a Senior Advisor, after serving as District Director for Texas State Senator Bryan Hughes (R-TX-District 1). He began his career as a staff member during Senator Hughes’ tenure in the Texas House and has worked in state government since 2003. A native of Hawkins, Texas, Ray graduated from East Texas Baptist College and dedicated years to ministry by serving as pastor in Marshall, Texas. He is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
