Washington, D.C. – Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX-01) was appointed to the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04). The Committee, under the leadership of Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI-02), is responsible for assessing the threats to the economy and national security posed by the government of China and proposing plans to ensure a strong American future.
“It is a great honor to be selected to serve on the China Select Committee,” said Congressman Moran. “Every day, the Chinese Communist Party presents new threats that impact East Texas and all Americans. The CCP is the greatest external national security threat to the United States. I look forward to working with Chairman Moolenaar and my colleagues to confront the many challenges posed by the CCP to strengthen America’s position as the world’s superpower.”
“The Chinese Communist Party represents the most significant national and economic security threat of our time, and I am proud to continue leading the Select Committee as we build on the essential bipartisan work of the 118th Congress,”said Chairman Moolenaar.“With the appointment of this exceptional group of members, we are strengthening our efforts to combat the CCP’s growing influence around the world and protect our freedom and way of life. I am grateful to Speaker Johnson for his support and partnership, and I am confident that, together, we will advance policies that keep the United States strong and secure as we confront China’s increasing challenges to our national security.”
Background: The House Select Committee on the CCP was created in 2022 by the Republican majority to address threats posed by communist China.
