Release: Congressman Moran Votes to Override President Biden’s Veto on Harmful ESG Package

Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) released the following statement after voting to override President Biden’s first veto – H.J.Res.30:

“President Biden’s first veto signifies his refusal to work on behalf of the American people – instead, choosing to pursue his own ‘woke’ ESG agenda. H.J.Res.30 passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate by majority votes, representing the values of a majority of Americans. While I am disappointed in the President’s veto, I am not surprised – the Biden Administration has routinely worked against our small businesses in favor of his own corrupt agenda. Last night, I voted to override the President’s veto in support of East Texas families and their businesses. I will continue to fight against these harmful policies and in favor of legislation that uplifts our family-owned businesses and the hardworking Americans who have spent decades diligently serving their community.”

Further Information:

H.J.Res.30 expressed Congressional disapproval of the rule submitted by Department of Labor relating to “Prudence and Loyalty in Selecting Plan Investments and Exercising Shareholder Rights” and nullified the rule. This bipartisan legislation passed the House of Representatives on February 28th, 2023 with a 216-204 vote and the United States Senate on March 1st, 2023 with a 50-46 vote.
