RELEASE: Congressman Moran on ESGs Harmful Impact in East Texas

MOUNT PLEASANT, TX – Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) released the following statement after his tour of the Priefert Manufacturing facility in Mount Pleasant, highlighting the discriminatory impact woke environmental, social, and governance, known as “ESG,” policy will have on businesses across East Texas:

“The radical ESG proposals by the Biden Administration will hurt hardworking, family-owned businesses by backing them into a corner. These ESG proposals prioritize a workforce based on diversity rather than merit. Discriminatory at its core, ESG policies will not achieve the administration’s intended outcome. Strongarming companies into what it can and cannot do will only raise prices for American consumers and will not lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

“The Priefert family has dedicated decades to growing Priefert Manufacturing, which today is one of the largest farm, ranch, and rodeo equipment manufacturers in the world. Unfortunately, they are just one of many family-owned businesses across East Texas who will be detrimentally impacted by the harmful and unnecessary ESG proposals. I would like to thank CEO Bill Priefert, President Eddie Priefert, and their entire team for taking the time to meet with me this afternoon, tour the facility, and discuss the real effect these proposals will have on businesses. As your voice in Congress, I am committed to supporting East Texan businesses and will fight against all bad policy ideas coming from the Biden Administration that will threaten the livelihood of small businesses and East Texans.”

Priefert Manufacturing added, “The Priefert family hosted Congressman Moran at their headquarters in Mount Pleasant, Texas yesterday. Topics discussed included President Biden’s liberal policies such as ESG, border security, and the trampling of conservative values in this country. Bill Priefert was quoted as saying,‘Washington DC is out of touch with the people of this country and something has to change.’ The 2-hour meeting and factory tour ended with both parties agreeing to stay in close contact and to work together on critical issues.”
