Moran Champions SAVE America Act to Protect and Preserve U.S. Elections

U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) announced the passage of the SAVE America Act, to mandate a valid voter ID for all federal elections. The legislation, championed by fellow Texan Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21), passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 218-213.

Thirty-six states require voters to show some form of ID to cast a ballot. However, that leaves many states with little to no safeguards to verify who is casting a ballot in federal elections. Despite finding noncitizens and similarly ineligible registrants on voter rolls, fourteen states still refuse to require photo ID for voting. The federal government must step in to safeguard the integrity of federal elections.

The SAVE America Act will protect our elections by:

●  Requiring individuals to present an eligible photo identification document before voting.

●  Requiring states to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – when registering an individual to vote.

●  Requiring states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls.

"American elections should be decided by American citizens," said Congressman Moran. "As I often said as a County Judge in Texas, what we need are SALTY elections – Secure, Accurate, Legal, Transparent elections with 'You,' the American citizen, involved in every step of the way.

"Election integrity is vital to American democracy. Voter trust is earned through transparency, verification, and safeguards that prevent election fraud and ensure that only eligible voters actually vote in federal elections. American voters must understand their voice counts, and that only happens when we protect the value of their vote."
