Washington, D.C. – Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX-01) was appointed to the House Committee on Ethics by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04). This Committee is a bipartisan standing body of the U.S. House of Representatives with jurisdiction over the House Code of Official Conduct. Congressman Moran is one of only five Republicans to serve on the bipartisan 10-Member Committee.

Background:
The Ethics Committee is unique among all House committees, consisting of 10 Members, equally divided between Republicans and Democrats. The Chairperson is of the majority political party in the House, and all Committee staff are nonpartisan.
The office of Advice and Education is designated to answer questions and provide ethics training to House Members, officers, and employees.
The Committee is charged with investigating and adjudicating any alleged violations of the House rules or any related statutes by House Members, officers, or employees.
The Committee reviews financial disclosure statements filed by Members, candidates, senior staff, and shared staff.
