Washington, D.C. – During a hearing of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX-01) highlighted the need to enhance America’s cyber defenses in order to safeguard U.S. national security against threats from the CCP.
“Just last week, CrowdStrike released a report that there was a 150 percent surge in espionage attacks, with critical industries seeing up to a 300 percent spike in targeted attacks,”said Congressman Moran.“In particular, they highlighted that China’s cybersecurity espionage has been accomplished by developments in their AI.”
“Both Democrats and Republicans have talked about going on the offensive,” continued Congressman Moran. “I’ll join the call of Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi to hack the hackers and target those individuals who are targeting the United States and our citizens. I think it’s imperative that they feel the pain, and that they know that there are going to be direct, swift, and severe consequences to cyberattacks against the United States and its citizens.”
“A great defense means a really good offense,” concluded Congressman Moran. “We need to go on the offensive.”
