Washington, D.C. – Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX-01) released the following statement after voting for a budget resolution to unlock the reconciliation process to deliver on President Trump’s full legislative agenda:
“The American people delivered a firm mandate in November when they elected President Trump to the White House and Republican majorities in Congress. Today—by passing the Budget Resolution—the House took a major step toward fulfilling that mandate to keep taxes low, reduce the national debt, and rein in spending. This procedural vote, which sent general instructions to each committee of jurisdiction, was just the first step in the reconciliation process, which now moves to substantive debate and discussion on specific saving items within those committees of jurisdiction. My vote for this resolution allows usthe chance to move to that next step and deliver on President Trump’s full agenda by saving taxpayer funds, securing our border, unleashing American energy production, and eliminating the waste, fraud, and abuse that have run rampant in Washington for far too long. Today’s vote took the necessary procedural step to ensure that our committees can now start identifying specific savings for the American people. I look forward to working with President Trump to pass a meaningful reconciliation package that will allow individuals in the First District to keep more of their hard-earned money.”
