Congressman Moran Introduces Bill to Sanction Individuals Involved with Fentanyl Crisis

Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) released a statement following the introduction of legislation that would direct the President to annually publish a list of Mexican individuals directly or indirectly involved with the manufacturing, distribution, or transfer of illicit Fentanyl. Following the publishing of this list, the President shall impose sanctions on these individuals.

“The Administration has a responsibility to keep the American people safe but has repeatedly turned a blind eye to the crisis at our southern border. Record high amounts of fentanyl are smuggled across the border and killing Americans and young people in our communities. Since 2020, fentanyl-related deaths in Texas have increased 120% with a considerable amount of these illicit drugs making their way across the same southern border that the Biden Administration has continually overlooked.

“We must hold corrupt Mexican officials and cartels accountable for their role in the death of thousands of Americans dying from these illicit drugs. My bill will publicly those who are directly involved or are aware of trafficking operations of fentanyl into the United States. We must take strong, immediate action and sanction every individual who is engaged with the manufacturing, distribution, or transfer of these lethal narcotics.”
