RELEASE: Congressman Moran, House Republicans Pass H.R. 1 – the Lower Energy Costs Act

Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) released the following statement today after H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, passed the House of Representatives by a 225-204 vote:

“Earlier this week during my monthly tele-town hall, I asked East Texans how they felt about current energy prices, with 94% of the respondents stating that they were indeed concerned about the rising costs. Since day 1 of his Administration, President Biden has waged a war on American energy producers and workers, which led immediately to skyrocketing prices at the pump and unforgiving energy bills for American families. Discouraging domestic energy production while promoting energy jobs overseas increases our dependence on foreign countries and weakens our national security. The United States has abundant energy resources and it’s past due to unleash our energy production.

“House Republicans are committed to restoring American energy independence by unleashing U.S. energy that will lower energy costs for hardworking Americans and position America to be a larger exporter of energy, which is why I was proud to support H.R. 1. American-made energy has a track record of providing reliable and affordable energy that boosts the quality of life for people at home and around the world. The Lower Energy Costs Act is good for the economy, families, national security, and our allies across the globe.

“Thank you to Congressman Scalise for leading this effort, and to Chairs McMorris Rodgers, Westerman, and Graves for working with those across the Republican Conference to create an energy package that works on behalf of all Americans. Together, we are restoring our nation’s standing as a leader in energy production.”
