RELEASE: Congressman Nathaniel Moran Statement on Passage of Pro-Life Legislation

Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and H.Con.Res. 3, Expressing the sense of Congress condemning the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches:

“As a man of faith and father of four beautiful children, I am proud to stand for the sanctity of life and in support of all children. Life begins at conception, and each of these innocent lives has an individual calling divinely given by God,” said Congressman Moran. “Far be it from us to prevent any life from fulfilling their calling in this life. I will continue to fight for the lives of our children and for the churches and organizations that provide hope and resources to new and expecting mothers.”

Background:

H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act will ensure that every child who is born receives the same level of treatment from healthcare providers. This legislation was introduced by Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) and passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 220-210. Congressman Moran is an original co-sponsor of this legislation.

H.Con.Res. 3, Expressing the sense of Congress condemning the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches was introduced by Congressman Mike Johnson (R-LA) and condemns the violence and harassment against critical health care resource centers in 2022. This resolution passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 222-209.

About Congressman Moran:

Congressman Nathaniel Moran moved to rural East Texas just a few months before he turned two years old. Congressman Moran attended the United States Military Academy at West Point for two years before transferring to Texas Tech University, where he ultimately earned his B.A., MBA, and law degree. Upon graduation from law school, Nathaniel and his wife Kyna moved to Tyler, where Nathaniel began practicing law and Kyna began teaching elementary school. He would go on to become a small business owner in Tyler – running both a law firm and a staffing company.

Congressman Moran began his career in public service as a member of the Tyler City Council from 2005-2009. In 2016, Nathaniel was appointed as the Smith County Judge. During his time as Judge, he served as presiding officer of the Commissioners Court, Chief Budget Officer, judge of the Constitutional County Court, Chair of the Juvenile Board, Head of Emergency Management, and Chief Administrative Officer of the County. In 2018, he was elected to a full four-year term as County Judge. He continued in this role until his election to U.S. Congress in 2022.

Congressman Moran and his wife, Kyna, are the proud parents of four school-aged children.
