Dear East Texas,

Serving in Congress is not just about representing the voices of East Texans—it’s also about ensuring that the institution itself operates with integrity, transparency, and accountability. That’s why I am honored to have been appointed by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04) to serve on the House Ethics Committee, a bipartisan body tasked with upholding the highest ethical standards in the House of Representatives. This Committee is unique in that it consists of an equal number of Republicans and Democrats, reflecting the seriousness of its mission and the nonpartisan nature of its work.

Ethics CMTE

As one of only five Republicans selected to serve, I take this responsibility seriously. The American people deserve a legislative body they can trust, and that trust must be earned through consistent accountability and adherence to the principles that guide public service. The Ethics Committee is charged with reviewing financial disclosures, investigating alleged violations of House rules, and providing guidance to ensure all Members and staff conduct themselves appropriately. It is a solemn duty, but one that I embrace with a firm commitment to upholding the integrity of the People’s House.

I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to carry out this important work, ensuring that the House remains a place where honor, duty, and ethical leadership are not just expected—but upheld.

Welcoming East Texas Students to Capitol Hill

Last week, I had the privilege of leading several night tours of the U.S. Capitol for students from Brook Hill School and Grace Community School. Sharing the rich history of our nation’s capitol building with the next generation of East Texans always makes for a special evening. The Capitol is more than just a symbol of our democracy—it’s a living piece of history, filled with stories of perseverance, leadership, and the American spirit. It’s an honor to share that history with our wonderful East Texas students.

Join Our Next Tele-Townhall on March 31st!

As the representative of the First District of Texas, I am committed to keeping East Texans informed.

Our office takes pride in sending out this weekly email newsletter that reaches over 25,000 constituents to keep YOU informed about our work on your behalf. And, nearly every month, we host a tele-townhall that reaches out to an average of 80,000 constituents and is open to anyone who wishes to call in. Through these tele-townhalls, I’ve engaged over 1.2 million times with constituents across the district. Our next tele-townhall is scheduled for Monday, March 31st at 7:00 p.m. We encourage anyone to join.

TTH March 31st

These tele-town halls are in addition to the numerous in-person public forums, town halls, and roundtables that our office schedules when I am in the district. Just since last August, we’ve done more than twenty of those in-person engagements where open Q&A occurs with attendees. I remain committed in the months and years ahead to continuing these types of engagements and more. They are fruitful opportunities to stay in touch with constituents, to listen closely to your concerns, and to keep you informed about our work on your behalf in DC. And while in D.C., I remain committed to working hard as a member of the Ways and Means Committee, and the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party to increase liberty for all East Texans.

Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, located on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, closed on March 21, 1963, after nearly 30 years of operation. The prison was originally designed to house the most dangerous and escape-prone criminals, earning it a reputation as the most secure federal prison of its time.
