Dear East Texas,
There’s something special about walking the halls of the school where it all began. This week, I had the privilege of returning to Cain Elementary School to spend time with nearly 100 second graders. I was a part of the very first kindergarten class in Whitehouse who got to learn in the building now known as Cain Elementary (named after my Kindergarten principal, Gus Cain, pictured below). It was truly a homecoming. And, it reminded me of the incredible impact that so many public educators, coaches, staff, and administrators had on my life growing up in East Texas. So, to all of you out there continuing the work—thank you!!

The moment I walked in, I was met with raised hands, bright eyes, and loads of energy. Their excitement was contagious and they were all eager to learn. I was grateful to tell my story that took me from the halls of Cain Elementary to the halls of Congress to serve the people I love most.
I shared my story with them and left them with three simple challenges—find your call, follow your call, and fulfill your call. But the most important thing I wanted them to walk away with is knowing God made each of them—unique and special. Those kiddos reminded me of the importance of learning, community, and helping those around you to prepare for the future. It’s safe to say the future is in good hands—wherever you are growing up in East Texas. It’s such a special place with special people.

I was honored to speak at the inaugural banquet of the Smith County Prayer Force. The mission is simple: connecting devoted prayer warriors with Smith County First Responders, so that everyday someone is lifting them up by name.
|
Our First Responders run toward danger, so we don’t have to. Our First Responders protect our communities without a second thought. I am grateful our community has come together to take care of our own. Thank you to all the First Responders who courageously put their lives on the line. Our community is grateful for you and is praying for you.

When House Republicans passed the Working Families Tax Cuts, we had all of East Texans in mind—delivering historic tax relief for the entire family. This includes a new $6,000 deduction ($12,000 for couples) to support America’s lower and middle-income seniors. After years of Bidenflation, this new senior deduction will help millions of seniors keep more of their hard-earned money—starting in the 2025 tax year.
In addition, House Republicans are putting Americans back in the driver’s seat. Through the Working Families Tax Cuts, we’re slashing costs and standing up for American workers by delivering a historic $10,000 tax deduction on car loan interest for vehicles built in the USA. This tax break rewards American workers and American manufacturing.
Whether you are a young professional buying your first car or a family upgrading to a new vehicle, this provision provides breathing room for hardworking Americans.
