Dear Friends,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with friends, family, football, and great food! As Members of Congress return to Washington for the next two weeks, our focus shifts to sprinting toward the finish line of the end of the year—delivering results for the American people and preparing to advance President Trump's agenda. This week, we met with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to discuss possible actions for the new Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE). Even now, though, work continues on reducing the influence of the federal government and the burdens that come with new regulations.

House Passes the Prove It Act: Empowering Small Businesses Against Government Overreach

Federal overreach imposed on family-owned and small businesses is crippling and stifles economic growth. On Thursday, the Prove It Act, bipartisan legislation I introduced with Congressman Brad Finstad (R-MN-01) and Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo (D-CO-08), passed the House by a vote of 208-196. Our bill empowers family-owned and small businesses to challenge unfairly burdensome regulations, giving them a stronger voice to fight harmful government overreach.

We introduced the Prove It Act to strengthen protections for small businesses established under the Regulatory Flexibility Act by requiring federal agencies to evaluate both the direct and indirect costs their regulations impose. Through this legislation, agencies are compelled to analyze the impact of their actions on small entities and mitigate these effects. A pathway is created for small businesses to raise concerns when regulations fail to account for their costs, and they are empowered to request a review by their chief government advocate to ensure agency compliance with existing laws. If regulators fail this review process, small businesses are exempt from those regulations. Additionally, our legislation mandates the accessibility of guidance documents online and establishes a direct line for small businesses to address questions or concerns with regulators. This bipartisan effort gives small businesses a stronger voice in regulatory decisions, ensuring their survival and growth.

Continuing to Push Back Against the Biden Administration’s Two-Tiered Justice System

We continue to shine light on the two-tiered justice system of the Biden Administration. As many of you know, on this past Sunday, President Joe Biden broke his pledge to not pardon his son, Hunter Biden. This was shameful, but not surprising. This pardon reinforced Biden’s legacy of promoting a two-tier justice system—one for his own family, and a different one for ordinary Americans. Make no mistake—he flat out lied. Hunter Biden broke the law on multiple occasions and, with the stroke of a pen, was absolved of his convictions and wrongdoing between 2014 and 2024, one of the broadest pardons since the Nixon pardon. No one is above the law, including Joe Biden and his son. This gross misuse of power by Biden undermines the credibility and faith in our justice system. See my comments on the Hunter Biden pardon and other topics of the week during my interview with Tony Perkins.

Welcoming Pastor Legg of Tyler to Congress as Guest Chaplain for the Opening Prayer

Pastor Legg

Pastor Chris Legg’s leadership at South Spring Baptist Church in Tyler truly exemplifies what it means to be a man after Christ’s own heart. This week, I had the privilege of sponsoring Pastor Legg to deliver the opening prayer before the House of Representatives. It was an honor to welcome him and his daughter, Ellie, to Washington, D.C., and to witness his heartfelt prayer in such a significant setting. It was a special privilege for me to have the opportunity to offer remarks following Pastor Legg’s prayer, honoring his dedication to advancing the cause of Christ and spreading the good news to all who know him.
