Dear Friends,

Please pray for our country and for the protection of President Trump. No presidential candidate—or any candidate—should fear for their life and safety. I was devastated to hear about the second assassination attempt on President Trump’s life, and I am thankful that he was not harmed. This is totally unacceptable. We must ensure the safety and security of all candidates.

Following the attempt on President Trump’s life, I spoke with KETK about the second assassination attempt. I wholeheartedly stand with Speaker Mike Johnson in demanding answers to these repeated threats. For more updates, please go to https://taskforce.house.gov/ to find the latest from the bipartisan task force as it tries to understand what went wrong, ensure accountability, and prevent failures from ever happening again.

Military Service Academy Deadline is Approaching

Service Academy

Attending a U.S. service academy is a distinguished honor, accompanied by the responsibility to serve in the military for at least five years after graduation.

As a Member of Congress, I have the privilege of nominating candidates for four of the five service academies: the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in Kings Point, NY. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) in New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. Detailed information about the nomination and admission processes can be found in each academy's catalog, on their websites, and in my nomination application packet.

If you would like to request a nomination from my office, please contact my district office at (903) 561-6349 and ask to speak with the Service Academy Coordinator for an application packet. You can also find more details by clicking HERE on my website.

Best of luck as you work toward your goal of attending the U.S. Service Academy and serving our nation.

Combatting the Biden-Harris Administration’s Woke Policies

This week, House Republicans passed a series of bills to correct the wrongs of the Biden-Harris Administration, including the disastrous neglect of our borders and the woke-agenda policies that are harming children, families, and businesses.

It has become far too common to see shocking headlines of crimes come across our screens and newspapers of American citizens suffering from inhumane acts caused by violent illegal immigrants—illegal immigrants who should not even be in our country in the first place. Just last week, a young native Texan, Jocelyn Nungaray, was tied up, assaulted, strangled to death, and left under a bridge by two illegal immigrants from Venezuela.

Since day one, the Biden-Harris Administration has turned a blind eye to our borders, allowing more than 10 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide. More than 8.3 million of these illegal immigrant encounters have been at the southern border
. Even more alarming, more than 378 individuals on the terrorist watch list (that we know of) have entered the country, while over 600 thousand illegal immigrants on the ICE non-detained docket remain free in our communities, jeopardizing the peace and safety of America. Make no mistake, House Republicans are determined to right the wrongs of the Biden-Harris Administration's neglect and complacency at our borders.

Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act - Introduced by Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC), H.R. 7909 seeks to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to make illegal immigrants who are convicted of, who admit having committed, or who admit committing sex offenses of domestic violence inadmissible and deportable from the United States. The Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act passed by the House of Representatives by a vote of to 266-158.

No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act - Introduced by Congressman Nick LaLota (R-NY), H.R. 5717 ensures that sanctuary cities, counties, and states that provide benefits to illegal immigrants are ineligible for federal funds to assist such immigrants. Cities that disregard our country’s immigration policies and laws ought to face the consequences of their failure to enforce the law. American taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for the costly policies implemented by far-left bureaucrats. The No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act passed by a vote of 219-186.

Woke policies threaten the individual values of every American. This week, House Republicans challenged the appalling far-left policies of the Biden-Harris Administration by establishing transparency in the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), countering DEI mandates, creating First Amendment protections for students in higher education, and protecting the retirement plans of hard-working Americans.

The Prioritizing Economic Growth Over Woke Policies Act - The House Financial Services Committee unveiled this piece of legislation to unwind the Biden Administration’s burdensome, costly, and woke requirements placed on companies in capital markets. H.R. 4790 will remove administrative costs that have prioritized non-material and unrelated environment, social and political issues over robust financial information. Additionally, H.R. 4790 will establish a Public Company Advisory Committee within the SEC to protect investors and ensure fair practices in the market. The Prioritizing Economic Growth Over Woke Policies Act passed by a vote of 215-203.

The End Woke Higher Education Act - Coming out of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, H.R. 3724 ensures colleges are not forced by accrediting agencies to commit to DEI policies in order to maintain their accreditation. Accrediting agencies should be focused on ensuring institutions have high quality programs rather than forcing institutions to support or oppose specific partisan beliefs on social and political issues or penalizing institutions for its religious mission or practices. Additionally, H.R. 3724 protects free speech by requiring institutions to disclose their First Amendment policies to students and prohibiting institutions from requiring political litmus tests for students and faculty members. Institutions should be focused on educating and equipping students to enter the workforce rather than promoting political agendas. The End Woke Higher Education Act passed by a vote of 213-201.

The Protecting Americans’ Investments from Woke Policies Act - The Committee on Education and the Workforce is committed to protecting Americans’ retirement savings and investments accounts. H.R. 5339 eradicates any social or radical agendas that are currently affecting how financial institutions invest your money. Woke Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies should not play a part in how retirement plan fiduciaries manage and invest Americans hard-earned money. The Protecting Americans’ Investments from Woke Policies Act passed by a vote of 217-206.

PROTECT Our Children Act of 2024

This week, I was proud to co-lead the PROTECT Our Children Act of 2024, legislation to combat child exploitation by reauthorizing and modernizing the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program. This legislation is critical to ensuring that children are not left at the mercy of evil predators online. It is imperative that we combat these heinous crimes, ensure thorough investigations and swift justice for victims, and advance the important work of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program. Reauthorizing this task force will provide the much-needed updates to facilitate proper investigations and ensure that law enforcement have the necessary information to protect children nationwide. You can learn more here.

Honoring Bishop W.C. Martin and First Lady Donna Martin of Possum Trot

Possum

This week, I gave remarks on the House floor to honor Bishop W.C. Martin and First Lady Donna Martin from Possum Trot, Texas. Nearly three decades ago, Bishop Martin and his wife Donna, who already had two biological children, adopted another four, starting a movement of 22 families within the Possum Trot community to adopt or foster over 70 children without a home. This touching story has been retold in the recent film, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, which is a story of inspiration for all of us to give more; to love more; and to do more for those around us. Thank you to the Bennett Chapel Church community for all that you have done! You can watch my full remarks here.

KETK: Rep. Nathaniel Moran responds to Trump assassination attempt

This Week in American History

Space

On September 17th, 1976, NASA publicly unveils its first space shuttle, the Enterprise, during a ceremony in Palmdale, California. Development of the aircraft-like spacecraft cost almost $10 billion and took nearly a decade. In 1977, the Enterprise became the first space shuttle to fly freely when it was lifted to a height of 25,000 feet by a Boeing 747 airplane and then released, gliding back to Edwards Air Force Base on its own accord.
