At the start of every Congress, new Members of Congress are assigned to Congressional Committees. Most Freshmen are limited to two assignments, but I requested and was granted a waiver to serve on three committees: (1) the House Committee on Judiciary; (2) the House Foreign Affairs Committee; and (3) the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
The House Judiciary Committee stands at the forefront of efforts to ensure that the federal government and its agencies are following the Constitution and acting impartially. Under Chairman Jim Jordan’s leadership, I look forward to working to uphold our Constitution and hold our government accountable.
The Foreign Affairs Committee oversees the federal government’s diplomatic community and involvement overseas. Under the leadership of fellow Texan, Chairman Michael McCaul, we must make sure that American diplomatic efforts convey strength and steadiness, and that taxpayer dollars sent overseas are effectively used in the best interest of the American people and strategically invested to maintain the United States’ position as the leader of the free world. We must strongly push back against foreign military and economic aggressors that seek to strangle the free world.
The Committee on Education and the Workforce ensures that the freedoms and liberties given through the Constitution are strengthened and secured. It is time for Congress to empower parents—not the federal government—to direct the education of their children. As a father of four and husband of an educator, I look forward to supporting families, educational institutions at all levels, and the many job creators in America—big and small—who educate, innovate, and ultimately create opportunities and high-quality jobs for Americans.
