I also hosted Lt. Col. Allen West and the Second Amendment Institute last week to discuss the importance of fighting to protect these rights for all Americans.

As a proud advocate for Second Amendment rights, I will fight for the right of every law-abiding American citizen to freely carry arms.

As a member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, I am standing up for hardworking taxpayers who shouldn’t be subject to paying for another American’s student loans. When I signed up for my loan, I understood the cost and responsibility associated with it – I didn’t expect anybody else to pay for it. I paid every penny!

In early February, I joined my colleagues in filing an amicus brief to the Supreme Court, speaking out against the Biden Administration’s student loan forgiveness proposal – which is reckless, fiscally irresponsible, and blatantly illegal. 

As we all know, there is no place like Texas. And, last week we celebrated Texas Independence Day. Together with many other friends from the Texas Delegation, we spoke boldly from the House Floor about the great history of Texas, the values that set us apart, and the future we are trying to carve.

While back in East Texas last week, I met with the Mount Vernon Rotary Club to discuss my work back in Washington and hear their concerns. Speaking with constituents and learning their values and priorities is key to representing you in Congress. I appreciate organizations like the Mount Vernon Rotary Club that give back so greatly to our communities.

The Rotary Club does an outstanding job supporting the Franklin County Community by providing scholarships to senior students, hosting their annual Heroes BBQ dinner for our first responders, and fostering a mentorship program for students in the area.

As many of you know, I am a proud Red Raider - that’s why I just couldn’t pass up the chance to meet with representatives from the Texas Tech Student Government Association. This group of future leaders traveled to D.C. to discuss how the government can reform the Federal Pell Grant to better aid students seeking higher education.

These students were a great representation of what Texas Tech is all about. Wreck ‘Em Tech!
