More than 6 million children have already signed up. Parents, grandparents, and employers can now contribute up to $5,000 a year, and over 50 major companies have stepped up to match contributions for their workers’ kids.

This is what pro-family, pro-growth tax policy looks like: giving every child a stake in the American economy. I’m proud to have supported the tax cuts that made it possible, and I’ll keep fighting for policies that put working families first.

Sharing a Meal With Those Who Keep Us Safe

I had the privilege of stopping by the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, the Longview Fire Station #6, and the Longview Police Department to deliver breakfast and say thank you to the men and women who keep our communities safe around the clock.

Thank you to the deputies, officers, and firefighters who took a few minutes out of their day to talk with me. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, and it’s an honor to represent a community that stands behind you.

Workforce Solutions East Texas

Workforce Solutions East Texas brought together community leaders, local elected officials, and staff to mark the Grand Opening and ribbon cutting of their new facility. I had the opportunity to tour the office and see firsthand the resources now in place to serve our region’s job seekers and employers alike.

This office provides real, tangible support for East Texas families and the businesses that keep our local economy strong.

Helping Feed America

This week, I joined East Texas Food Bank as they welcomed a truckload of 40,000 pounds of donated food—part of a national effort by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to deliver 250 18-wheeler trucks across all 50 states in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

It was a special moment to present a flag and certificate to Liz Bell, a dedicated volunteer at East Texas Food Bank. Liz is a Gold Star mother who was recently honored with the Heart of Service Award from Just Serve—a fitting tribute to someone who gives so much of herself to others.

I stood alongside volunteers, packing and boxing food together for our soldiers and families right here in East Texas. Acts of service like this bring us together, and they're the perfect way to celebrate our 250th anniversary.

Ways and Means: Sports Tax Policy

It is vital we remain committed to protecting student-athletes as Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) policy catches up. At a recent Ways and Means hearing on sports tax policy, I talked with former NFL linebacker Sam Acho about a growing problem: under the current NIL structure, student-athletes are often left holding the bag with unexpected tax liabilities. Sam and I discussed pairing financial education with tax-advantaged savings accounts so young athletes can build a foundation for life after sports.

NIL has changed the game. It’s time for Congress to catch up and protect student-athletes as they go through an intense period of growth into adulthood.
