$17 Million in Stimulus Funds Released for Ft. Myer & Belvoir

   
 

Washington, D.C., April 28th – Congressman Jim Moran, Virginia Democrat, announced this morning that over $17 million in stimulus funding has been released for maintenance and repair projects at Ft. Myer in Arlington County, Virginia and Ft. Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia.

“The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was designed to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and put people back to work,” said Moran.  “The projects at Ft. Myer and Ft. Belvoir fit this mold, upgrading two military installations to the benefit of our military men and women that are critical to our nation’s defense and northern Virginia’s economy.”

A total of $17,087,405 in stimulus funding was released by the Defense Department for Fort Myer and Fort Belvoir. Below is the breakdown of how the funds will be spent:

• $98,090 Fort Myer: Replace air handling unit (AHU) and Controls Building P-73
• $67,315 Fort Myer: Building MY447 repair & modify boiler control panel
• $300,000 Fort Myer: Install HVAC, server rooms, Building 205 and Building 238
• $8,675,000 Fort Myer: Renovate Building 249 Company Operations
• $640,000 Fort Myer: General barracks repair, Buildings 247, 248
• $450,000 Fort Myer: Replace fire alarm transmitter system
• $500,000 Fort Myer: Building 301; repair distribution pump station
• $870,000 Fort Myer: Repair & upgrade 3rd US Infantry Building 251 
 $2,340,000 Fort Myer: Replace central steam heat with individual boilers--multiple buildings
• $1,072,000 Fort Myer: Replace failing HVAC equipment in Building 313: Directorate of Logistics maintenance facility
• $1,125,000 Fort Belvoir: Replace central steam heat with individual boilers in 8 buildings
• $450,000 Fort Belvoir: Repair Building 2116, Physical Fitness Facility--bathrooms, showers, and lockers, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, athletic court flooring, and interior finishes
• $500,000 Fort Belvoir: Repair Religious Education Center, Building 1028; Repair doors, windows, finishes, electric, HVAC systems.
