Washington, D.C., September 11th – Congressman Jim Moran, Virginia Democrat, issued the following statement regarding the 8th anniversary of 9/11. “Eight years have passed since the tragedy of September 11th, but for many, the pain remains. Our hearts go out to all those who lost a friend or loved one that day. “Most Americans can and always will remember what they were doing when planes crashed into the Pentagon, World Trade Centers and a field in Pennsylvania. For others, many of whom live in this region, memories of this anniversary are even more vivid because they were experienced first-hand. “On this, the 8th anniversary of that tragic day, let us celebrate the lives of the victims and give thanks to the brave 1st responders—the paramedics, law enforcement officials and firefighters without whom this tragedy would have been far greater. Each one of us will hold this day in our collective memory as a defining moment, not just of tragedy, but of the resilience and compassion of the American spirit.” --30-- |
